Four dead in Palpa tipper crash

Four people were killed after a tipper met with an accident in Palpa on Saturday night.
The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old driver Chinta Bahadur Sunar and 26-year-old Sunil BK, both from ward 4 of Sitganga Municipality in Arghakhanchi; 26-year-old Sunil Nepali of ward 2 in Devdaha Municipality of Rupandehi; and 33-year-old Rajan Chidi of ward 10 in Tansen Municipality of Palpa.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hom Prakash Chaudhary of the District Police Office, Palpa, three victims died on the spot. Chidi, who was critically injured, died during treatment after being referred to Bhairahawa Medical College in Rupandehi.
Police said the empty tipper was heading towards a limestone mine from Jhadeba in ward 4 of Mathagadhi Rural Municipality to Rahabas in ward 7 when the accident occurred. Four people, including the driver, were on board.
All the injured were initially taken to Lumbini Medical College in Prabhas, Tansen, where doctors pronounced three dead.
The vehicle fell around 50 metres off the road, police said. An investigation is underway.
