The secretariat meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to Sunday.
RSP had called the meeting to discuss the selection of candidates to be elected under the proportional representation (PR) system as well as proposed amendments to the party’s statute.
According to party officials, the meeting was deferred on the instruction of party chair Rabi Lamichhane. The secretariat will now meet on Sunday at 10:00 am at the party’s central office in Vanasthali, Kathmandu.
Earlier, the meeting had been scheduled for Saturday following discussions between Lamichhane and senior party leader Balen Shah.
Immediately after the secretariat meeting, RSP, now the largest party in the parliament, plans to convene a central committee meeting to finalise the list of lawmakers to be elected under the PR system and to amend the statute regarding the election of the parliamentary party leader.
The RSP secured 57 seats under the proportional representation system in the recent general election.
The Election Commission of Nepal on Thursday asked political parties to submit the final list of lawmakers to be elected under the PR system by Sunday.
The RSP had contested the election after declaring senior leader Shah as its candidate for prime minister.
