Two young men were killed when a tipper truck hit a motorcycle at Bargachhi in Damak Municipality in Jhapa district, on Wednesday.
Police said the tipper truck heading from Damak towards Ramchowk hit the motorcycle travelling from Durga Mandir towards Peltimari.
The motorcycle rider, 22-year-old Prabesh Rai and the pillion rider 19-year-old Janam Rai of Chulachuli Rural Municipality in Ilam sustained critical injuries in the crash.
They were rushed to Damak Hospital where doctors pronounced both dead.
Police detained the tipper driver Hibaraj Raya, aged 32, a resident of ward 9 of Triyuga Municipality in Udayapur district for investigation.
