India gifts second tranche of election assistance to Nepal
Over 250 vehicles handed over to support preparations for upcoming elections, reflecting long-standing bilateral cooperationPost Report
India on Thursday gifted the second tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal, as part of support requested by the Government of Nepal for preparations for the upcoming elections.
The assistance was formally handed over at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance in Kathmandu on January 29, in the presence of Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal. Rakesh Pandey, charge d’affaires a.i. of the Embassy of India, ceremonially handed over more than 250 vehicles to Nepal.
Speaking at the event, Minister Khanal highlighted the long-standing cooperation and friendly relations between Nepal and India. He thanked the Government and people of India for the assistance and said the vehicles would play an important role in facilitating election preparations.
The first tranche of India’s election-related assistance was handed over on January 20, 2026. In a press note shared after the event, the Embassy of India said that further deliveries are expected to be made in batches over the coming weeks.
