One killed, 21 injured as passenger vehicle plunges off road in Doti

One person died and 21 others were injured when a microbus travelling from Achham to Dhangadhi of Kailali met with an accident at Jorayal Rural Municipality-1, Golden area, along the Bhimdatta Highway in Doti on Saturday morning.
According to the District Police Office, Doti, the vehicle, driven by 38-year-old Dev Bahadur Thapa of Baigau, Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-12, went out of control and plunged about 100 metres down the road at around 5:35 am.
Twenty-two-year-old Haria Pariyar of Mangalsen Municipality-9, Achham, died on the spot, police confirmed.
A 14-member police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Lokendra Singh Pujara rescued the injured and sent them to Padma Hospital in Attariya for treatment.
Police said the condition of Lokendra Rawal, Ekendra BK, Motikala Pariyar, Biraj Pariyar, Bhim Bahadur Dholi, Shristi Pariyar, Binod Pariyar, and Mansari Pariyar is critical, while driver Dev Bahadur Thapa, Meghya Dholi, Padma Pariyar, Nrip Dholi, Devraj Bhatta, Indrasara Pariyar, Rabi Pariyar, and several children sustained minor injuries.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, police said.
