A 27-year-old man was killed in an elephant attack in ward 7 of Birtamod Municipality, Jhapa, on Wednesday.
According to Area Police Office, Anarmani, the deceased has been identified as Sahil Mohammad Miya, a resident of Birtamod-7, Khalbari.
Police said Miya was fatally injured after being attacked by a wild elephant in the area. His body has been taken to Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur, for post-mortem.
Incidents of human deaths from elephant attacks are increasingly frequent in Jhapa, underlining the growing problem of human-wildlife conflict in the eastern Tarai.
