Rescuer dies while retrieving missing man’s body

A man searching for a missing villager in Gorkha district died after slipping from a cliff on Thursday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Chhise Dorje, who was part of a search team looking for Rinjin Lama, 42, of Chumchet Sipchet in ward 6 of Chumnubri Rural Municipality.
Lama had gone missing on August 18 while returning home after paying an electricity bill and was found dead about 150 metres below a trail on Thursday morning.
According to DSP Indra Prasad Subedi, Dorje lost his footing and fell while attempting to alert family members after spotting Lama’s body. He died on the spot.
Both bodies remain lodged on the cliff, around 20–22 metres apart, and efforts are underway to retrieve them.
A police team led by Inspector Saroj Karki has been deployed from the District Police Office to complete legal procedures, officials said. The site lies two days’ walk from Gorkha Bazaar and around three hours north of the Chumchet police post.
