A 51-year-old man died and another was seriously injured after a truck collided with a scooter in Manahari Rural Municipality-7, Makwanpur, on Sunday.

According to Makwanpur police, the accident took place along the East-West Highway at Ramtar when a truck heading towards Chitwan from Hetauda struck a scooter travelling in the opposite direction from Chitwan to Hetauda.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamu Aryal of the Makwanpur District Police Office informed that the scooter rider, Motibahadur Kshetri, 51, of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-11, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hetauda.

The pillion passenger, 36-year-old Narmaya Gurung of Bharatpur-9, sustained serious injuries to her right leg, hand, head, and face. She is currently receiving treatment at Old Medical College in Chitwan.

Police have taken the truck driver, 35-year-old Ashok Yadav of Bodebarsain Municipality-2 in Saptari, into custody for further investigation.
