Prime Minister Oli, in his capacity as the university’s chancellor, selects Aryal among three nominees.
Post Report
Deepak Aryal has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, in his capacity as the university’s chancellor, appointed Aryal from among the three candidates recommended by a selection committee led by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Panta.
The committee submitted its recommendation on Monday, proposing three names–Acting Vice-Chancellor Khadga KC, former Dean of the Faculty of Science Vinil Aryal, and former head of the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Deepak Aryal.
The post became vacant after then Vice-Chancellor Keshar Jung Baral resigned on March 28.
Baral, who was appointed on February 22, 2024, resigned just over a year into his term. He cited persistent interference and lack of support from the prime minister as key reasons for stepping down.
Following the resignation, Prime Minister Oli appointed Rector KC as the acting vice-chancellor.
