A 45-year-old man died after a vehicle hit the scooter he was riding near Godam Chowk in Banepa-7, Kavre, on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Area Police Office, Banepa, the incident occurred at around 1 pm on the Banepa–Panauti road section when a vehicle travelling towards Banepa struck a scooter coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased has been identified as Gyan Dhoj Tamang of Temal Rural Municipality-1, who had been residing in Bus Park, Banepa-7.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Tiwari said Tamang was critically injured in the crash and was rushed to Scheer Memorial Hospital in Banepa for treatment, where doctors pronounced him dead at around 2 pm.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the incident. Police said a search operation is underway.
