Post Report
India has presented 40 ambulances to various health institutions in Nepal, aiming to bolster the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
The handover ceremonies took place simultaneously in Kathmandu, Birgunj, Pokhara, and Dharan, with representatives from the Indian Embassy and Consulate General overseeing the events.
In Kathmandu, the keys to the vehicles were handed over by Prasanna Shrivastava, deputy chief of mission at the Indian Embassy.
Mayors and chairpersons from municipalities and rural municipalities across Bagmati, Karnali, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with representatives from beneficiary organisations, political figures, and social workers, attended the ceremony.
This initiative is part of India’s ongoing support under the Nepal-India Development Partnership, which has seen over 1,000 ambulances gifted to Nepal since 1994. The ambulances are distributed across 33 districts, covering all seven provinces of Nepal, to improve access to emergency medical services.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, noting that the new ambulances would significantly enhance healthcare accessibility in their regions.
The gifting of ambulances is one of several collaborative efforts between India and Nepal, reflecting the strong bilateral ties and India's commitment to supporting Nepal’s development in various sectors, including health, education, and infrastructure.
