One dead, three injured in Kavre bus accident
Passenger bus from Panauti veers off road in Bethanchok, plunges 50 metres below near Darke KholaJyoti Shrestha
One person died and three others were injured when a passenger bus travelling from Panauti to Bhugdeu in Bethanchok Rural Municipality-6 in Kavre met with an accident on Wednesday evening.
According to local officials, the bus veered off the road near Darke Khola at around 5pm and plunged approximately 50 metres down a slope. Ward Chair of Bethanchok-6, Bishnu Lama, confirmed that a woman passenger died on the spot. Her identity has not yet been confirmed.
Three others, including the driver, sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby health post for treatment. Local police reported that the bus was carrying seven passengers at the time of the accident.
A team from the District Police Office is en route to the site to investigate the cause of the accident.
Preliminary reports suggest the accident may have occurred due to a sharp turn or brake failure, but officials say a full investigation is underway.
