Government to auction assets of cooperative fraudsters to compensate victims

Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel on Thursday said the government will auction the properties of those involved in cooperative fund embezzlement and distribute the proceeds to the depositors.
Presenting the budget for fiscal year 2025-26 in a joint session of the Federal Parliament, Paudel added that a revolving fund will be established, and the government has arranged the necessary seed capital. He also said the assets and passports of problematic cooperative officials and directors will be seized.
The government has allocated Rs7.49 billion to the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation for the upcoming fiscal year.Most Read from National
