Chauthaiwale meets Deubas and Lekhak
Seeks Nepal’s support in India’s fight against terrorism.

Vijay Chauthaiwale, who is in charge of the foreign affairs department of the Bharatiya Janata Party, met with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Foreign Affairs Minister Arzu Rana Deuba and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, among other politicians, on Wednesday.
Chauthaiwale arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday on a three-day visit.
“I had an insightful discussion with them on several topics of mutual interests,” Chauthaiwale wrote on social media platform X, after his meeting with the Deubas.
Sources said that Chauthaiwale visited Kathmandu to get assurance from the Nepali side that it stands with India in its fight against terrorism. In a terrorist attack last week, as many 26 Hindus including a Nepali citizen were killed in Pahalgam, the Indian-administered Kashmir. India is garnering support from countries around the world in its fight against terrorism.
Sudip Neupane of Rupandehi district was shot dead in the attack, which India blames on a Pakistani militant group.
Chauthaiwale also held a separate meeting with Lekhak soon after he landed in Kathmandu.
“In my first meeting in Kathmandu, I had a warm meeting with Home Minister of Nepal Shri Ramesh Lekhak,” he wrote on X. “We discussed the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which one Nepali citizen also succumbed. He assured that Nepal strongly stands with India in the fight against terrorism.”
Chauthaiwale will meet Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and leaders from the opposition parties, among others.
