One dead, one injured in Doti mini-truck accident
Police are searching for the driver of the mini truck, who reportedly fled the scene after the accident.Post Report
An accident in Doti has claimed the life of one person and left another injured. The incident occurred around 12:30 pm on Monday in the Deuthan area of Badi Kedar Rural Municipality-3, according to local police.
The mini truck was transporting collected wood from the Janajagaran Community Forest to be unloaded at the nearby Selane Khola riverbank when it overturned.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Binod Sharma from the Doti District Police Office, confirmed that the vehicle lost control and rolled off the road, resulting in the death of 27-year-old Santosh Gurung from Deval of Badi Kedar-3. Gurung was reportedly crushed by the timber in the truck and died at the scene.
The truck’s passenger, Lokbahadur Palli Magar, the president of the local community forest, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Mulichaur Health Post.
Meanwhile, police are still searching for the driver of the mini truck, 29-year-old Gopal Badela from Badi Kedar-2, who reportedly fled the scene after the accident.
