Post Report
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker and former minister Deepak Bohara passed away on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at Om Hospital in Kathmandu. He was 74.
RPP spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha confirmed Bohara’s passing, calling it a great loss. “With his demise, RPP has lost a founding leader with a coordinating image, Rupandehi has lost a development-oriented representative, and the nation has lost a talented nationalist personality. I am deeply shocked by his passing,” Shrestha said.
Bohara had suffered from post-Covid complications since contracting the virus in 2020. He developed voice-related issues and was unable to speak even during election campaigns. Seeking treatment in Delhi and New York, he underwent speech therapy but continued to face health challenges. Recently, he had been recovering at home.
He was elected from Rupandehi-3, defeating Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand with the support of the CPN-UML and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal.
Active in politics for nearly four decades, Bohara held several ministerial positions throughout his political career.
