Agriculture expert Madan Rai has been convicted of child sexual abuse by the Khotang District Court.

According to Sudip Kumar Bhattarai, information officer of the court, the bench of judge Narayan Prasad Dahal issued the verdict on January 23.

Bhattarai said the sentence would be determined in a separate hearing scheduled for February 7.

Rai was arrested in May last year. Rai, who is also the operator of the Shubhadra Madan Foundation in Diktel, was arrested on the charge of sexually assaulting female children at his institute.
