Amrit Bahadur Rai officially took charge as Foreign Secretary on Wednesday, marking a significant step in his career in diplomacy and public service.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rai has been a civil servant since 1996. Over the years, he has represented the nation in various capacities, contributing significantly to Nepal's diplomatic and administrative sectors.
Rai was promoted to the ministry’s top bureaucratic post after the government selected former secretary Sewa Lamsal as Nepal’s ambassador to Belgium and the European Union. The parliamentary hearing committee endorsed Lamsal and President Ramchandra Paudel has already administered the oath of office to her as Nepal’s envoy.
