Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday congratulated newly elected British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on an election victory.
“I look forward to working with the new government of the UK to strengthen longstanding Nepal-UK relations,” Dahal said in a post on X.
Starmer’s Labour Party surged to a comprehensive win in a parliamentary election on Friday, ending 14 years of often tumultuous Conservative government.
The centre-left Labour won a massive majority in the 650-seat parliament. Rishi Sunak's Conservatives suffered the worst performance in the party's long history as voters punished them for a cost of living crisis, failing public services, and a series of scandals, Reuters reported.
