UML Lumbini Province convention kicks off in Butwal
The first convention to elect a 205-member provincial committee by Monday.Post Report
The first convention of the CPN-UML Lumbini Province chapter kicked off at the Ramnagar International Convention Centre on Saturday afternoon.
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the event in the presence of the party’s central and provincial leaders.
A total of 1,004 representatives from all over the province will attend the convention. They were selected from 82,895 party members from all 12 districts and 23 sister organisations of the province.
The convention will elect a new provincial leadership by Monday.
The incumbent provincial committee is 576-strong. The convention will reduce the size to 205, according to Padma Aryal, Lumbini Province in-charge of the party.
A total of seven central office-bearers of the party including two vice chairmen Bishnu Paudel and Yubaraj Gyawali, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali and three secretaries Gokarna Bista, Chhabi Lal Bishwakarma and Padma Aryal are from the same province.
UML became the first party in Lumbini in the 2022 polls by winning 11 out of 26 federal and 18 out of 52 provincial assembly seats.
