National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has reiterated that Nepal will not allow anyone to use its territory against China.
Addressing the 5th Tibet Tourism and Culture Expo held in Tibet, chair Timilsina said Nepal has always remained in favour of the one-China policy.
“Nepal has firmly stood in support of the one-China policy and is committed not to allow its territory to be used for activities that are against China,” he said.
Timilsina said China, which has emerged as a world power, has been respecting the geographical integrity and sovereignty of Nepal.
Timilsina said China and Nepal have always respected each other’s sovereignty and integrity.
“Both countries have unwavering faith in five principles of peaceful coexistence,” he added.
He also said that trade and investment between Nepal and Tibet, which have been there since historical times, are the foundations of bilateral relations between Nepal and China.
Stating that trade and investment activities between the two countries were affected during the Covid-19 pandemic, chair Timilsina said the resumption of three border points will open new avenues for trade and investment.
Chair Timilsina, who is on a China trip leading a nine-member parliamentary delegation, met the director of the standing committee of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress (SMPC) Dong Yunhu on Wednesday.
On Monday, he met Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.
