National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina on Wednesday met with the director of the standing committee of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress (SMPC) Dong Yunhu.
Timilsina, who is on an official visit to China, met Yunhu at the People’s Building in Shanghai.
During the meeting, Timilsina proposed direct flights from the Chinese city to Kathmandu and Pokhara for the further expansion of business and industry in Nepal.
The Upper House chair further added that the direct flights would ease the travel for Chinese tourists who come to Nepal to visit different destinations such as Lumbini and Pokhara. Timilsina also informed the Chinese delegates of Pokhara Municiplaity’s desire to build a stronger relationship with the Chinese city.
Yunhu emphasised strengthening the mutual relation between the two neighbours and continuing regular trade to benefit the people of both countries.
Several Nepali parliamentarians, members of the SMPC, China’s National People’s Congress Foreign Affairs Vice-Chair and China-Nepal Friendship Committee Deputy Head Wang Ke, among other senior officials were present at the meet.
On Monday, Timilsina had met with Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.
Chair Timilsina left for a China visit on Saturday night, leading a nine-member parliamentary delegation.
