President Bhandari visits hospital to enquire about Pradip Giri’s health

President Bidya Devi Bhandari visited Nepal Mediciti Hospital on Saturday to enquire about the health condition of Nepali Congress leader and lawmaker Pradip Giri.
President Bhandari’s chief personal secretary Bhesh Raj Adhikari said she took stock of Giri’s health condition.
“After enquiring about the health condition of Giri, President Bhandari also met with his family members and wished for his speedy recovery,” Adhikari told the Post.
He said Home Minister Balkrishna Khand was also present at the hospital.
Giri had returned to Nepal a few months ago after treatment for throat cancer in India.
According to his family sources, he was admitted to Nepal Mediciti Hospital a month ago after suffering from pneumonia and complications arising from cancer.
“He underwent immunotherapy a week back to boost his immune system. However, he has now developed massive pneumonia, which has further compromised his health, resulting in a multiple organ failure,” reads a statement issued by the family.
According to the statement, a full team of doctors consisting of oncologist, pulmonologist, gastroenterologist, nephrologist, internist, and critical care specialists has been attending to Giri.
Earlier in the morning, CPN (Maoist Centre) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal also visited the hospital to take stock of Giri’s health condition.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had visited the hospital to enquire about Giri’s health.
Giri, 74, is known a socialist thinker and is among a few politicians in Nepal who is respected equally by leaders from across the political spectrum.
