Umesh Chauhan has been appointed editor of Kantipur daily—the Post’s sister paper.
Chairman and Managing Director of Kantipur Media Group (KMG) Kailash Sirohiya on Friday announced Chauhan’s appointment as the editor of Kantipur amid a function at KMG office in Thapathali.
Chauhan, who has been active in journalism for the last two decades, was previously editing Naya Patrika daily.
Chauhan holds a master’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Purbanchal University.
Chauhan will coordinate and produce editorial contents under the guidance of Kantipur Editor-in-Chief Sudheer Sharma.
Welcoming Chauhan as the new editor, Sirohiya said that Chauhan under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Sharma will work to take the paper to new heights as per the need of time.
Editor-in-Chief Sharma said that he was glad to welcome Chauhan to the newsroom.
“I am confident that Chauhan’s skills and experience would be reflected in the newsroom and that he would bring about the changes we desire in the changing times,” said Sharma.
Post Editor Sanjeev Satgainya said Chauhan's entry will further strengthen Kantipur.
Saying that Kantipur has its own legacy, newly-appointed Editor Chauhan expressed his commitment to upholding what the paper believes in.
“Journalism is about values, democracy and principles,” said Chauhan. “I am pleased to be part of a newsroom that has always upheld those ethos.”
