A person has been arrested in possession of 18 kg gold from Dashrathbasti in Punarbas Municipality-2 of Kanchanpur on Thursday.

A police team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau confiscated 108 bars of gold hidden in the house of a local at Dashrathbasi in Punarbas Municipality-2, SP Sudip Giri said.

The house owner has been arrested along with the precious yellow metal. Police has not revealed the identity of the arrestee suspecting that other persons are also involved in the smuggling of the gold.

Police confiscated the gold based on a tip-off that the gold was being smuggled to Nepal from India.
