Rastriya Prajatantra Party lawmaker Rajendra Lingden has warned of staging a hunger strike if the government continues to discriminate against his constituency.
Speaking at the zero-hour of the federal parliament, lawmaker Lingden said the government hasn’t paid attention to the people of his constituency.
He said the government has not allocated the budget for his constituency and the projects selected by the erstwhile government are also in limbo. He demanded prompt resumption of those projects. He said the government has allocated Rs 11 million for a project that costs only Rs 1 million.
“The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has sent the ceiling in the rural municipality of his election constituency under the Tarai-Madhesh Prosperity programme. The Village Council sent the project. The programme, which was in the least priority, demanded Rs 1 million. The Ministry, however, sent Rs 11 million. We asked the Ministry why this happened. The Village Council recalled the decision. Minister had promised to look into the issue. Why the Minister did not look into the issue yet?” he questioned.
Lingden said, he came to know later that the project was approved based on the recommendation of political cadres. “I want to say the Minister that there is no place where we can spend that amount. Why such project was selected?” he exclaimed with surprise.
