Minor girl found dead in Biratnagar
A child who had gone to her neighbour’s house to watch television has been found dead in Biratnagar. A child who had gone to her neighbour’s house to watch television has been found dead in Biratnagar. Her naked body was recovered from the bank of Singhya River in an isolated area at the bordering region of Biratnagar Metropolitan-8 and Katahari Rural Municipality on Sunday afternoon.
The minor has been identified as 10-year-old Rupmati Das, alias Gudiya, of Baluwai-10 in Biratnagar Metropolis.
Some fishermen found Gudiya’sbody at a distance of 500 metres from her home. Gudiya was a grade 1 student at local Narayan Primary School.
Family member said the girl had gone to their neighbour Mohammad Mema’s house on Saturday evening to watch television. But she did not return home. She often used to visit Mema’s house to watch television, and sometimes stayed overnight there, her mother Manidevi said.
Father Ram Prasad said they assumed that she stayed at neighbour’s house after she did not return home that night. But the family started looking for her after she did not return home the next morning.
The search unfortunately led to discovery of the dead body near river. The girl was found naked with blood oozing out of her mouth, eyewitnesses said.
Chief of Morang Police SP Manoj KC said that they are investing the case. “We have formed a separate team for micro-investigation into the case given its sensitiveness,” said KC.
The body has been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Science, Dharan for autopsy. So far police have not made any arrest in connection with the case.
