Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has refuted his alleged involvement in the process of procuring two wide-body aircrafts.
“I was the first person to raise voice against the irregularities carried out in the procurement of aircraft,” said Deuba at a press conference organised in Dhangadhi on Monday morning. “It will be injustice if I am dragged into the issue at his moment,” he added.
“I had responsibility of 11 ministries when I was the Prime Minister. Even ministerial-level decisions were not taken at that time. I have no knowledge if secretary-level decisions were made,” he said, adding, “The procurement process was started when KP Sharma Oli was the executive head of the country.”

He said that a sub-committee was formed during the government of Oli, giving a three-month deadline to submit the report.
Leader Deuba said that other process of procuring the wide-body aircrafts was taken ahead during the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government.
“The decision to act as the loan guarantor for the Nepal Airlines Corporation for procuring the aircraft was taken when Dahal was the Prime Minister of the country,” he said.
Saying that his name was included in the multi-million-dollar Airbus aircraft purchase scandal with ill-intention, the former Prime Minister said stern action should be taken against those involved in the financial irregularities no matter who the person is.
