The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a corruption case at the Special Court against Chandra Man Shrestha, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Forest and Environment, for amassing illegal property.
The anti-graft body said Shrestha amassed illegal property worth around Rs 13.4 million when he was the Director General at the Department of Transport Management (DoTM).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the CIAA said Shrestha, who had joined the government service in 1991, had earned a total of Rs 21 million through legal means. The CIAA investigation, however, found property worth Rs 34.4 million owned by him and his family. The anti-graft body concluded that Shrestha had amassed Rs 13.4 million illegally.
