Shortage of medicines at Tribeni Gram Hospital of Tribeni Rural Municipality in Rukum (West) has affected the medical staff from providing proper health care services to the patients.
The hospital, that was built five months ago by the Nepal Army, has been facing a lot of problems due to the lack of medicines, the staff said.
Nara Singh Pun, health assistant at the hospital, said,”The flow of patients visiting the hospital has been increasing, but since there are no medicines in the store, we have been providing the patients with recommendations only.”
The hospital has only three health workers: Health Assistant, Lab Technician and an Office Assistant. Locals complained that the hospital has not run smoothly due to the negligence of the rural municipality.
Mohan Khadka, a local, said the health services provided by the hospital are not effective.
“The locals have to go to Khuncheri and Simrutu based health posts or private medical clinics to receive treatment for lack of proper health service at Tribeni,” said Khadka.
Meanwhile, Jhakku Prasad Gharti, chairman of Tribeni Rural Municipality, said the rural municipal office will purchase new equipments and fill the hospital’s store with medicines soon.
