Thousands of passengers, who were heading towards their respective villages and hometowns to celebrate Dashain festival, have been stranded after the incident occurred at GheuKhola in Daunne this afternoon.
Police said the traffic congestion worsened on the highway after the drivers on the both lanes of the roads became impatient to overtake as they please.
The traffic was snarled up on both sides with queue of vehicles reached up to ArunKhola on the eastern side of Daunne and Chisapanion on the western side. The distance between ArunKhola and Chisapani is 20 km, police said.
Passengers have been roaming around a nearby jungle after they got stuck in the jam. They complained that they have parching with thirst as they couldn’t get a drop of water to drink.
It is uncertain when the traffic movement will resume.
The District Traffic Police Office is preparing to bring a crane from Hongsi Cement factory to pull the truck.
