A six-month-old child of Chisi inTrumakhand Rural Municipality-4,Achham, who sustained critical injuries after unidentified persons poured a chemical similar to a corrosive acid, breathed his last during the course of treatment.

The baby, Muskan Bayak, was asleep alone at his house when the unidentified persons threw acid on his face at around 11 am on Tuesday. The critically injured infant died while being rushed to Surkhet for further treatment Tuesday evening, police said.

Police reached the incident site following the incident and arrested his aunt Janaki Bayak, 25, for investigation.

According to a preliminary investigation, police have found that his aunt had poured acid on the face of Musan, said DSP JanakShahi, Chief at the District Police Office, Achham.

“We will initiate legal procedure by taking head the investigation,” he said.

Locals have suspected that the acid attack on the child could have been motivated by revenge.
