Protest continues in Siraha’s Mirchiaya
Business owners and former people’s representatives of Mirchiaya Municipality, Siraha, continued to protest against exorbitant tax rates imposed by the recent municipal meeting.
The protesters on Wednesday said that the municipality was hurting small business owners, farmers and low to middle income families by raising taxes on everything conceivable, including chickens and ducks. They submitted an application to Mayor Shrawan Yadav, demanding that the municipality revise the tax rates. Mayor Yadav assured the protesters to convene the municipal meeting at the earliest to discuss their demand.
