A 12-year-old mentally challenged girl of Khanar in Itahari Sub-metropolis-13 was gang raped by three persons in a wheat field on Tuesday, said police. In a complaint filed with the police station, the victim’s family has stated that the perpetrators lured her by providing Rs50 and took her to the field and committed the crime.
Police arrested Abinash Sardar on charge of raping the girl on Friday after the victim’s family registered a complaint of gang rape, said DSP Sanjaya Raut. But the others involved in the rape are at large. Police escorted the girl home after a medical test at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family said Abinash’s father Danalal had been pressuring them to settle the case in the village. “Strong action will be taken against anyone found involved in settling the case. Hunt is on for the two other perpetrators,” said DSP Raut.
4-year-old girl assaulted in Bardiya
BARDIYA: A 62-year-old man has been arrested on charge of raping a four-year-old girl at Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-9 in Bardiya district on Friday. Chudamani Damai of Badhaiyatal raped the girl, said police. DSP Yubaraj Khadka said that 30 cases of rape were reported in the district in the last eight months.
93 rape incidents reported in Prov 2
JANAKPUR: Ninety-three rape incidents have been reported in eight districts of Province 2 in the last eight months. According to the Provincial Police Office data, 22 rape incidents were reported in Saptari and Siraha districts, six in Dhanusha, five in Mahottari, 13 in Sarlahi, 11 in Rautahat, 7 in Bara and Parsa districts. A total of 132 cases of rapewere reported in eight districts of Province 2 in the last fiscal year.
