Deuba elected NC PP leader
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected as the party's Parliamentary Party (PP) leader on Monday.Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected as the party's Parliamentary Party (PP) leader on Monday.
He defeated his rival candidate former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh with a margin of 25 votes in the voting that took place at the Parliamentary Party Office in Singha Dubar this morning.
Deuba mustered 44 votes while Singh garnered 19 votes.
Senor leader Ram Chandra Paudel and former General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula had thrown their weights behind Singh in the election.
Deuba and Singh had filed their nominations for the PP leader on Sunday evening.
Deuba had filed his nomination by granting power of attorney to his close aide Bal Krishna Khand.
Singh had filed his candidacy soon after the Deuba’s candidacy was registered.
Out of 275 members in the House of Representatives, there are 63 members from the NC.
