A five-year-old boy, who had been missing from Mayadevi Ruralmunicipality-4 since Thursday, was found dead near his residence on Sunday.
Mohammad Aayaman Musalman, the son of Mayadevi-4 Ward Chairman Phatte Mohammad, was found dead in a puddle near his residence. The family members said that the boy was abducted while he was on his way to school on Thursday morning.
“There were no injuries on the body. It seems that the boy was killed or died only a few hours before,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Narendra Karki, adding that they were investigating into the incident.
The victim’s mother saw the body in the puddle and took it out with the help of local people. The family claimed that the abductor murdered the boy and dumped the body in the puddle. “The assailant might have dumped the body last night [Sunday night] to show that he drowned,” said the victim’s father, blaming police for ignoring their repeated requests to find the abducted boy. The bereaved family and the locals expressed their ire at the police administration. They claimed that police did not take in the incident seriously due to political pressure. Phette, who was elected ward chairman from Bahujan Shakti Party, claimed that police initially refused to register case.
The victim’s father claimed that Nasim Khan, who is on the police’s wanted list, and his wife Phaujiya Nasim were involved in the abduction and subsequent murder.
“He had dispute with me after I was elected in the local election. He abducted my son to take revenge,” said Phatte, adding that Nasim Khan was enraged as the ward office decided to award the contract of the local ponds through bidding. The accused has been staying in bordering Indian town of Aligadhawa. Police said he was also involved in various criminal cases.
