A couple has been arrested for slaughtering a cow in Marshyangdi Rural Municipality-9 of Lamjung district on Wednesday. Another man involved in slaughtering the cow is absconding.
The arrestees have been identified as Durgaman Tamang, 33, and his wife Dil Maya Tamang, 28, of Marshyangdi Rural Municipality-2.
The couple was segregating meat when police arrested them at around 10 pm yesterday. Police said they have confiscated weapons used in slaughtering the cow, the national animal of Nepal.
Bijay Tamang, 20, of Marshyangdi Rural Municipality-3 is on the run, police said.
Police said that the couple has been remanded to police custody for 10 days for investigation.
A case has been filed at the district court against the couple.
