Police opened fire at Aathbiskot Municipality-11 in Rukum district on Sunday.
Police said they opened fire into the air to control the situation after a ballot box of proportional representation category was set ablaze in Nepal Rastriya Secondary School Gatasaina (Kha), DSP Rajendra Prasad Dhamala of the District Police Office, Rukum, said.
Meanwhile, police arrested a woman attempting to pour acid in a ballot box at an election center in Himalayan Secondary School in Aathbiskot Municipality-3.
Rupa BK, 36, of Aathbiskot was arrested and her attempt to disrupt the polls was foiled, DSP Dhamala said.
