Eight women candidates are in the fray from Dang district in Province 5 for the upcoming federal and provincial elections which will take place here in the second phase on December 5.
According to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, Dang, four women candidates are vying for three House of Representative seats and as many women are competing for six provincial assembly seats.
In Dang-1, Sushila Chaudhary of the Nepali Congress is pitted against Rekha KC of the CPN-UML for the federal parliament. KC is the common candidate of the left alliance of the UML and CPN (Maoist Centre).
Likewise, in Dang-2, Mangol National Organisation Party has fielded Dilmaya Bucha for the federal parliament while in Dang-3, Rastriya Janamorcha’s candidate is Kamala GC.
For provincial elections, CPN-ML has fielded Sabita GC (Pandey) from Dang-1 (A). Rastriya Janamukti Party’s Asha Nepali and Naya Shakti Party’s Padma Baniya are vying for the provincial seat in Dang-2(A).
Leela Pandey is Rastriya Janamukti Party’s candidate for Dang-3 (A).
Dang has three federal constituencies and six provincial constituencies. A total of 30 candidates including six independent and four women are vying for the federal parliament seats in Dang. Similarly, for provincial assembly seats, 51 candidates including four women and six independent have thrown their hat into the ring.
