“We will make good governance, directly elected executive head of the state and proportional representation election system the party’s agendas for the upcoming elections,” the Maoist leader said, adding, “Stable government is necessary for the economic revolution.”
“The government will be stable only through direct election of the executive head,” he said while speaking at a programme organised in Sindhupalchok on Thursday.
Saying that the local level elections have created opportunity for women and indigenous people to take part in the government, he clarified that women, indigenous and marginalised people will have high participation in the government if the proportional election system is implemented.
Though the Maoist party has progressive political agendas, he said that the party lagged behind CPN-UML and Nepali Congress in the first two phases of local level polls due to poor organisation and failure to convince cadres and the general public.
“We emerge a third force in the local level polls, this is the evidence of people’s frustration,” he said.
“The party’s position will be strengthened in the remaining elections,” leader Thapa added.
