The government has decided to hold both provincial and federal parliamentary elections in a single phase on November 26.
A Cabinet meeting held on Monday morning made the decision to this effect.
Earlier, the Election Commission had urged the government to conduct elections in two phases saying that it would be difficult to conduct both the elections at once due to time constraint, lack of laws and Constituency Delimitation Commission (CDC) report; and human resource and logistical issues.
The election body had proposed holding the two polls in two phases—on November 20 in Hill and Mountain areas and on December 7 in the Tarai.
