They claimed that the possible outbreak of diseases will be controlled if these two things can be guaranteed.
The officials also said that possible epidemic of diarrhoea, cholera and jaundice among other diseases could not be ignored.
“The problem is of inundation till now, not epidemic,” Health Service Department Director Dr Rajendra Panta said, adding, “But we have to be prepared. Now, water-borne diseases can be the main problem of the country.”
Around 21, 000 people have been displaced due to floods across the nation and the officials said that an initiative should be taken for a special kind of treatment for them.
Saying that 80 percent of the people in flood-affected 29 districts are at high risk of various kinds of diseases, Epidemiology and Disease Control Division Direction Dr Bhim Acharya said, “We have to control any kind of diseases seen at the present.”
Informing that a special process has been put in place to triumph over the crisis of medicine shortage in the flood-affected districts, Health Service Department Deputy Director Chudamani Bhandari said, “There will not be shortage of medicines.”
