CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday told Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba that his party would discuss on amendment proposal after the first phase of local polls taking place on May 14.
Deuba had reached Oli’s Balkot residence to secure the UML’s support for the constitution amendment proposal. Oli told Deuba that the UML would be open for discussion on the issue only after the May 14 elections are over, a close aide to the NC president said.
Deuba had reached out to Oli seeking the main opposition’s support in the government’s bid to endorse the amendment proposal to ensure the participation of Sanghiya Gathabandhan, an alliance of Madhesi and Janajati forces, in the local level elections.
