Khairichandanpur VDC has enforced the banda to protest against the recommendation of the Local Level Restructuring Committee (LLRC) to incorporate the VDC under the proposed Geruwa village council. The agitating villagers have demanded that the VDC should be included in Rajapur Municipality. The banda has affected transportation, education and businesses activities in the municipality. Daya Shankhar Chaudhary, one of the protesters, said that they will continue the protest until the LLRC revises its proposal. Local Development Officer Tej Raj Sharma, also the coordinator of the technical committee of the LLRC, said he has already notified the Local Level Restructuring Commission about the demand.
Gulmi shut for past 15 days
GULMI: Gulmi district has remained shut for the past 15 days owing to the banda enforced by various political parties to protest the constitution amendment bill that proposes splitting Province 5. On Wednesday, women in Tamghas, the district headquarters, staged a rally against the bill. They demanded the government to revoke the bill. The protesters, led by lawmaker Kamala Bishwakarma, also submitted a memorandum of demand to the prime minister through the chief district office.
