Nepal caucus formed in Canadian parliament

A meeting presided over by Deputy Speaker of Canada’s House of Commons Bruce Stanton has elected a seven-member executive committee under the leadership of Gen Tang, according to Nepali embassy in Canada.
Talking briefly after being elected as the chairperson, Tang said the committee would contribute in promotion of trade and tourism between the two countries apart from other issues.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, arrived here in Canada to attend 39th General Convention of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), was also present during the function. He was invited by Tang and Nepali Ambassador to Canada Kali Prasad Pokharel.
Addressing the function, Minister Shahi congratulated the office bearers of the newly formed executive committee. He noted that the promulgation of new constitution in Nepal has paved the way for political stability and economic development.
He hoped that the formation of Canada-Nepal Friendship Group would increase interaction between the lawmakers of the two countries, improve mutual relations, exchange of parliament experiences and visits.
He added that the parliamentary group would play a vital role in promotion of trade, investment and tourism between the two countries.
At the programme, Ambassador Kali Prasad Pokharel thanked all the members of House of Commons and Senate for showing up at the programme and lending support in his bid to form the parliamentary frienship group.
Harold Albrecht and Julie Dabrusin have been elected the deputy chairperson of the committee and Ramesh Sangha, Raynell Andrychuk (Senator), Mark Marawa and Jati Sadhu are the have been elected the as the directors of the committee.
Likewise, Chandra Arya, Larry Bagnell, Larry Campbell (Senator), Joseph Day (Senator) and Julian Peter, Gord Johns, Robert Kitchen, Larry Miller, Deepak Obhrai, Robert Oliphant, Michelle Rempel, Mark Serre, Bruce Stanton, Brad Trost are the members of the committee.
