Guru Secondary School in Bihi VDC, Mugu, has been named the best community school of the mid-western region.
According to the District Education Office, the school has shown an outstanding performance compared to other community schools in the region.
The evaluation was based on the results of school leaving certificate (SLC) examinations for the year 2072 BS.
The school has been producing 100 percent pass rate in the SLC exams for the past five years.
There are 447 students studying in the school at present. Children from neighbouring Shreenagar, Kalkhe, Dhainakot, Natharpu VDCs also go to the school.
School Headmaster Liladhar Sharma said the teachers and the students are all pleased to achieve the distinction of best community school in the region.
Ummer Bhumi, one of the teachers, said they have been encouraged to strive to become better in the future.
There are 95 primary schools, 22 secondary schools and 24 lower secondary schools in the district.
District Education Officer Jawaharlal Hamal said most community schools in Mugu lack of textbooks, human resources and basic infrastructure, and Guru Secondary School is no exception.
Despite many shortcomings, the school performance has continued to improve over the years, he added.
Meanwhile, Shitaladevi Community School in Pokhara-12 of Kaski district has been honoured for its outstanding performance in whole of the country.
In the central region, Narayani Namuna Higher Secondary School in Bharatpur of Chitwan district has been picked the best community school in the region.
There are 35,000 community schools in the country.
