An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 was recorded in Bajhang district on Saturday morning.
According to the Regional Seismological Centre in Surkhet, the tremor rocked the district at 6:08 am followed by another quake of magnitude 3.2 at 6:32 am.
Both the tremblers had their epicentre at Mayan, some 11 kilometres north-east of the district headquarters Chainpur. According to police, Saturday’s quakes damaged three school buildings in the district. Bajhang witnessed a number of aftershocks following the M5 quake on Wednesday. Chief District Officer Sunil Khanal said security agencies have been alerted about the threats of frequent aftershocks to public life and property.
