Nepse drops 27.59 points as all sub-indices close in the red
Turnover falls to Rs6.69 billion, with 220 stocks declining.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index declined by 27.59 points on Sunday, closing at 2,614.55.
The benchmark index had settled at 2,642.15 in the previous trading session on Tuesday, after falling nearly 21 points.
The market witnessed broad-based losses, with all 13 sub-indices ending lower, exerting downward pressure on the overall index. Trading was limited to two days-Monday and Tuesday- last week due to public holidays.
Out of the companies traded on Sunday, share prices of 220 declined, while 34 advanced and seven remained unchanged, indicating heavy selling across the board.
A total of 15.98 million shares were traded through 72,104 transactions during the day.
The total turnover amounted to Rs6.69 billion, lower than the previous trading day’s Rs8.36 billion recorded on Tuesday.
The across-the-board decline in sub-indices contributed to the sharp fall in the benchmark, as investor sentiment remained subdued throughout the trading session.
