The nationwide Code for Impact hackathon series began in Butwal, Lumbini Province, on January 18–19, launching a seven-province tour aimed at promoting technology-led solutions to Nepal’s development challenges.
From the Lumbini provincial round, two health-sector teams—Team Galaxen and Team Rx Sentinel—were selected as semifinalists, highlighting innovative approaches to improving health outcomes. The programme will now continue across the remaining six provinces.
The Butwal event was inaugurated in the presence of representatives from the US Embassy in Nepal, including Mike Harker, Chief of the Public Affairs Section, along with mentors and leaders from national and global technology firms such as Fuse Machines, SecurityPal, Genese, Tangible and CNI IT.
“Nepal’s young people are among the region’s most creative problem-solvers, and Code for Impact brings technology, mentorship and opportunity directly to them across the country,” said Mike Harker, chief of the Public Affairs Section at the US Embassy in Nepal.
Led by Aadyanta Advisory and the US Embassy in Nepal, in partnership with AmCham Nepal and Aadyanta Fund Management, the six-month initiative aims to engage over 175 young innovators nationwide. It combines provincial hackathons with mentorship, seed funding, and pathways to incubation and investment.
The hackathon series will continue in Pokhara, Dhangadi, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Surkhet and Kathmandu, focusing on solutions in priority sectors including health, education, agriculture, tourism and digital commerce.
