Post Report
Air India Express, a Tata group airline, has begun direct daily flights between Kathmandu and Bengaluru starting 1st June 2025, marking its foray into Nepal and further deepening the ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Kathmandu becomes the 17th international destination in the airline’s growing network and the first station in Nepal for Air India Express. The new service connects the capital of Nepal with Bengaluru. Often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru is home to some of the country’s leading universities, hospitals, multinational companies, and research centres. With its pleasant weather, multicultural vibe, and connectivity to destinations across India, it is a preferred city for students, professionals, and medical travellers from Nepal.
Commenting on the launch of services to Kathmandu, Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express, said, “We are delighted to expand our footprint to Nepal, our neighbouring country in the subcontinent, further strengthening the deep-rooted cultural and economic ties we share. This new route brings people, tales, and traditions closer, while reinforcing our vision of making travel more accessible and meaningful. It also builds on our recent expansion into short-haul international leisure destinations such as Bangkok and Phuket.”
This new connection also offers one-stop access from Kathmandu via Bengaluru to other Indian cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Goa, and Tiruchirappalli, as well as Abu Dhabi and Dammam in the Middle East.
